Guppy Fish

The guppy (Poecilia reticulata), is one of the world's most widely distributed tropical fish, and one of the most popular freshwater aquarium fish species. It is a member of the Poeciliidae family and, like all other members of the family, is live-bearing. Guppies, whose natural range is in northeast South America, were introduced to many habitats and are now found all over the world.

Male guppy fish

The Guppy is one of the most popular aquarium fish due to it’s easy living habitat and cosmetic beauty. They are highly adaptable and thrive in many different environmental and ecological conditions. Male guppies, which are smaller than females, have ornamental caudal and dorsal fins, while females are duller in colour. Wild guppies generally feed on a variety of food source including benthic algae and aquatic insect larvae.platinum guppy fish

The Guppy fish is peaceful so we have a bunch of them in the same aquarium. It should be noted that the guppy fish are not very compatible with the territorial fish, since the latter prefer large, quiet spaces, and the active nature of guppys can invade the territory of more aggressive fish and become uncomfortable for them.

The Guppy is often found in community aquariums, but Guppies with long and flowing fins can be harassed by fin-nippers and should not be combined with such fishes. Guppies should ideally be kept in groups in a well planted aquarium since this will make them less shy and reduce the amount of stress. Guppies fish are beautiful but extremely slow compared to the zebrafish and other and this was my problem. The fish in my tank completely destroyed his tail and not know if he will recover.

Guppy fish are warm water fish. The recommended water temperature for Guppy is 75-85° F and the pH level should ideally be from 6.8 to 7.6.

They love live foods , such as salt or brine shrimp White worms . But also eat dry food, flakes, pellets or freeze-dried.

A male guppy can fertilize 3 to 5 females. The guppy eggs are fertilized in the mother's body, abiding in him, until the moment of birth. With three months the female guppy already reach sexual maturity. Their gestation is around 22-26 days and the interval between births slightly larger. Usually born 30-60 guppy fry . That depends on the size of the female and quality of food. The first pregnancy, independent of other factors typically produces few minnows. There are mothers who ignore their children, there are those who promptly devour them (cannibalism). Some form of protection should be provided as dense plants, screens, plastic colanders from pasta or any device serving as a shelter. The fry can stay up to two days without food, as born with a yolk sac

Butterfly Koi

Butterfly Koi

Butterfly Koi, Longfin Koi, or Dragon Carp are a kind of attractive fish well known for their elongated finnage. The fish are a breed of the normal carp including numerous wild carp races and also domesticated koi. Butterfly Koi's normal lifespan is 25 to 35 years.

Butterfly Koi

Butterfly Koi originated from the mid-20th century because of an attempt to increase the hardiness of traditional koi. Japanese breeders interbred wild Indonesian Longfin river carp with traditional koi. The resulting fish had longer fins, long barbells, pompom nostrils, and were hardier than koi. These were known in Japan as "onagaoi" or "hire naga koi", or translated in English "long tail koi". Randy LeFever, the son of Wyatt LeFever, a noted breeder of koi, is credited with suggesting they looked like butterflies, a trait for which the breed is named. They are also sometimes referred to as Dragon Koi.

Small Butterfly Koi is sometimes kept in aquariums, but this fish is much more popular as a pond fish and can reach a size of 36 inches. The best of setup tank for Butterfly Koi is a 1,000+ gallon pond, pH around 6.8 to 7.2 range. Feed your Butterfly Koi high-quality pellet food with no more than 30 percent protein. An occasional shrimp treat is fine, but pellet food ensures a balanced diet. The Butterfly Koi will endure temperatures from 33 to 90° Fahrenheit.

Add Calm and Color With a Saltwater Fish Tank

Few things bring a home or office to life as much as a saltwater fish tank. A saltwater tank allows for a wide selection of colorful tropical fish. Freshwater tanks may be slightly less expensive to start and maintain, but cannot match the brilliance of a saltwater tank.

Modern aquariums are not limited to boring rectangular boxes, many styles are available. For someone shopping for a tank, or the freshwater tank owner looking to upgrade a saltwater aquarium can be a beautiful addition.

Saltwater Tropical Fish

Though there are colorful freshwater fish available, they pale in comparison to the rainbow of vibrant colors available in saltwater fish. From the orange and white striped clown fish straight out of "Finding Nemo" to the dazzling variety of butterfly fish available and many more that are equally colorful and exotic.

Add Calm and Color With a Saltwater Fish Tank

The color and beauty of a saltwater tank is not limited to fish. Many tank owners prefer to add live coral to their tank creating a miniature reef in their home or office. While a fully stocked reef tank can be quite an investment, there's no need for a saltwater tank to cost a fortune.

While it is true that freshwater tanks are less expensive to setup and maintain, the gap is not large. A properly maintained saltwater fish tank does not have to cost much more than a freshwater tank. The initial expense of tank setup can be offset by buying only necessary equipment at the start, and working up to more expensive items. Though the most exotic of saltwater fish can be expensive, more common, but still beautiful, fish can be found for just a few dollars.

The only reason for a modern saltwater fish tank to be a standard rectangular design is if the tank owner desires it. A wide variety of shapes and sizes are available to aquarium owners. From the standard rectangle to custom designs tailor made to the space available. Hexagon tanks are eye catching and popular. Triangular shaped corner tanks minimize the space required, and look stunning. If none of the available options suit the shopper, custom made aquariums are available, limited only by the imagination of the designer.

A saltwater fish tank not only provides a dazzling dash of color to a home or office, but can also improve the mood and anxiety level of the people viewing it. Many doctor and dentist offices take advantage of the fact that the presence of an aquarium can help calm patients both young and old.
